The origins of deck building games have long been debated, but hear at the Weakling Gazette we know the truth has always been right in our faces. Fantasy football was the original deck builder and anyone who tells you different was afraid to talk to girls in high school… Well we were too but at least we’re honest.

What we know as modern fantasy football can be traced all the way back to 1962, far preceding anything else in the discussion. In addition, since roguelike deck builder games blew up in 2017 with Slay the Spire, fantasy football has served as a good middle ground for jock dads to bond with their loser sons, as well as loser dads with their jock sons.

We sent out field reporter Freddy Garduño to interview quarterback Aaron Rodgers for more information on the origins of the game but from the police report that was filed we gathered that Freddy was placed under a spell by Aaron Rodgers using some strange herbs as well as some shreds of paper that after being put back together turned out to be a picture of Gal Gadot’s teeth and forced to attempt an assassination on Anthony Fauci.

Whatever the case, fantasy football continues to combine 2 of gen X Americans’ favorite interests in minorities getting head injuries and hoarding workhorses in an effort to watch number on screen go big, which guarantees its success for the foreseeable future.
